o Newsworthy events recount the event in summary form. Inform readers important or unique features of an event, subjects related, as well as the location and the date. This paragraph answers the 5WH-questions.
o Background events/elaboration: elaborate what happened, to whom, and in what circumstances. Tell the readers the sequence of the events in chronological order and sometimes also explain why the events happened.
o Sources/resource of information are comments by participants in, witnesses to, and authorities' expert on the event. Use in quote attribution and in paraphrase and quote attribution in writing sources.
Being a newsreader is not easy. You have to pay attention to pronunciation, intonation, clarity in speaking, and pause.
This is how a newsreader commonly host a program.
- Opening : Greet your listeners/viewers, mention your name and the program you are hosting, and tell them how long the program will last.
- Introduction : Mention where the news come from and the topic.
- News : Deliver the headline/lead, news feature, and reminder.
- Closing : Say when you’ll be back with the program and ask your listeners/viewers to stay tuned.
