IF AIN’T GOT YOU

By Alicia Keys

Some people live for the fortune

Some people live just for the fame

Some people live just for the power, yeah

Some people live just for to play the game

Some people think that the physical things define what’s within

And I’ve been there before, and that life’s a bore

So full of the superficial

(Chorus)              Some people want it all

But I don’t want nothing at all

If I ain’t got you baby

Some people want diamond rings

Some just want everything

But everything means nothing

If I ain’t got you, yeah

Some people search for a fountain

That promises forever young

Some people need three dozen roses

And that’s the only way to prove you love them

Hand me the world on a silver platter

And what good would it be?

With no one to share, with no one who truly cares for me

A long time ago, there was a great kingdom in Halmahera. The people were sad. The great, kind and wise king just died. The king had three children, two sons and one daughter. The sons were Baginda Arif and Baginda Binaut, while the daughter was Putri baginda Nuri.

The queen talked to the soldiers’ commander about the next king. According to the rule, the first child would be the next king. Therefore, they were preparing a ceremony to inaugurate Baginda Arif to be the new king.

Binaut heard they conversation. Actually, he also wanted to be the king. He had a plan. Secretly, he talked to the commander asked him to send the queen, Arif and Baginda Nuri to jail. He told the people that his mother, his brother and his sister were drowned in the sea.

Becoming the new king, he was very cruel. He asked his people to pay high taxes. The people suffered but they could not do anything. The soldiers would hurt them.

However, not all the soldiers wanted to follow Binaut. One of the soldiers named, Bijak, made his own troops. He knew the queen; the prince and the princess were in jail. He wanted to set them free. On one night, Bijak and his troops attacked the jail.

Not long after that, the mountain erupted. The lava was flowing. The people were running to save their life. Binaut was also running. Amazingly, wherever he was running, the lava always followed him. He was really scared. He went to the jail but they were not there.

Finally, Binaut could not run anymore. He was exhausted and he arrived at the sea. He could not go back to the land because it was full of lava. Because he was very tired, he was drowned. Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world. It was built by a Muslim Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his dear wife at Agra.

Taj Mahal is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of Queen Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum is a part of a vast complex comprising of a main gateway, an elaborate garden, a mosque (to the left), a guest house (to the right), and several other palatial buildings. The Taj is at the farthest end of this complex, with the river Jamuna behind it.

The Taj stands on a raised, square platform (186 x 186 feet) with its four corners truncated, forming an unequal octagon. The architectural design uses the interlocking arabesque concept, in which each element stands on its own and perfectly integrates with the main structure. It uses the principles of self-replicating geometry and symmetry of architectural elements.

Its central dome is fifty-eight feet in diameter and rises to a height of 213 feet. It is flanked by four subsidiary domed chambers. The four graceful, slender minarets are 162.5 feet each. The central domed chamber and four adjoining chambers include many walls and panels of Islamic decoration. Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj as if suspended when viewed from across the Jamuna River.

Being a teacher is a tough job anywhere, but it seems especially hard in Indonesia. We have seen quite a few stories about students attacking teachers, as well as teachers abusing students, all of which seem indicative of a larger culture of disrespect and violence within the country’s schools.

That culture was once again thrust into the spotlight recently when a video of students at a school in Central Java harassing and bullying their teacher went viral and made national headlines over the weekend.

Whether or not that is actually the case or simply an attempt by the school’s principal to save face is hard to say. But Muhaidin did admit that even if what they were doing was just joking around, it was beyond what was reasonable and said the students would be disciplined in some way and their parents would be involved.

While stories about Indonesian students disrespecting and even attacking their teachers are disturbing, on balance we’ve probably seen more stories about teachers forcing awful punishments on their students such as the elementary school kids who were recently punished for smoking by being forced to smoke more and the teacher who forced one of her students to lick a disgusting toilet because they didn’t do their homework. Clearly there is something seriously needs to be done to reform the culture of discipline at a lot of Indonesian schools.

But, I believe that we have same perception that juvenile delinquency is our problem, starting from students, teachers, parents, society and also government. Certainly, it could be solved if only those components give high participation and responsibilities in it. We do hope there won’t be another victim anymore.

25.        What topic is being argued in the text above?

C.      The second paragraph is the elaboration of the first one.

D.      The paragraph two does not support the first paragraph.

E.       They stand alone and uncorrelated to each other.

27.        The writer’s argumentation intentionally wants to reiterate….

A.     the readers to stop the juvenile delinquency immediately

B.       that the case is the parents’ and school responsibilities

C.      some arguments that juvenile delinquency is still on control

D.     that juvenile delinquency is now a serious problem

E.       that students now do the delinquency due to the technology advancement

Acid rain is rain that is highly acidic because of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and other air pollutants dissolved in it. Normal rain is slightly acidic, with a pH of 6. Acid rain may have a pH value as low as 2.8. Acid rain can severely damage both plant and animal life. Certain lakes, for example, have lost all fish and plant life because of acid rain.

Acid rain comes from sulfur in coal and oil. When they burn, they make sulfur dioxide (SO2). Most sulfur leaves factory chimneys as the gaseous sulfur dioxide (SO2) and most nitrogen are also emitted as one of the nitrogen oxides (NO or NO2), both of which are gasses. The gasses may be dry deposited–absorbed directly by the land, by lakes or by the surface vegetation. If they are in the atmosphere for anytime, the gasses will oxidize (gain an oxygen atom) and go into solution as acids. Sulphuric acid (H2 SO4) and the nitrogen oxides will become nitric acid (HNO3). The acids usually dissolve in cloud droplets and may travel great distances before being precipitated as acid rain.

Catalysts such as hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and ammonium help promote the formation of acids in clouds. More ammonium (NH4) can be formed when some of the acids are partially neutralized by airborne ammonia (NH3). Acidification increases with the number of active hydrogen (H+) ions dissolved in acid. Hydrocarbons emitted by, for example, car exhausts will react in sunlight with nitrogen oxides to produce ozone. Although it is invaluable in the atmosphere, low-level ozone causes respiratory problems and also hastens the formation of acid rain. When acid rain falls on the ground it dissolves and liberates heavy metals and aluminum (Al). When it is washed into lakes, aluminum irritates the outer surfaces of many fish. As acid rain falls or drains into the lake the pH of the lake falls. Forests suffer the effect of acid rain through damage to leaves, through the loss of vital nutrients, and through the increased amounts of toxic metals liberated by acid, which damage roots and soil microorganisms.

August 17th marks the anniversary of Indonesia’s Declaration of Independence from the Netherlands in 1945. This important event is celebrated across the country with the raising of the red and white national flag, the “Sang Saka Merah Putih,” and the singing of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya.”

The draft was prepared only a few hours earlier, on the night of 16 August, by Soekarno, Hatta, and Soebardjo, at the house of Rear-Admiral Tadashi, Miyako-Doori 1, Jakarta (now the Formulation of Proclamation Text Museum, Jl. Imam Bonjol No. 1, Jakarta). Aside from the three Indonesian leaders and Admiral Maeda, three Japanese agents were also present at the drafting: Tomegoro Yoshizumi (of the Navy Communications Office Kaigun Bukanfu), Shigetada Nishijima, and Miyoshi (of the Imperial Japanese Army). The original Indonesian Declaration of Independence was typed by Sayuti Melik. Maeda himself was sleeping in his room upstairs. He was agreeable to the idea of Indonesia’s Independence, and had lent his house for the drafting of the declaration.

The Proclamation of Indonesian Independence (Indonesian: Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Indonesia, or simply Proklamasi) was read at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, 17 August 1945. The declaration marked the start of the diplomatic and armed resistance of the Indonesian National Revolution,, fighting against the forces of the Netherlands and pro-Dutch civilians, until the latter officially acknowledged Indonesia's independence in 1949. In 2005, the Netherlands declared that they had decided to accept de facto 17 August 1945 as Indonesian’s independence date. On September 14, 2011 a Dutch court ruled in the Rawagede massacre case that the Dutch state was responsible because it has the duty to defend its inhabitants, which also indicated that the area was part of the Dutch East Indies in contradiction of the Indonesian claim of 17 August 1945 as its date of independence. In a 2013 interview the Indonesian historian Sukotjo, amongst others, asked the Dutch government to formally acknowledge the date of independence as 17 August 1945. The United Nations recognizes the date of December 27, 1949. The document was signed by Soekarno (who signed his name "Soekarno" using the older Dutch orthography) and Mohammad Hatta, who were appointed president and vice-president respectively the following day.

The proclamation at 56, Jalan Pegangsaan Timur, Jakarta, was heard throughout the country because the text was secretly broadcast by Indonesian radio personnel using the transmitters of the Jakarta Hoso Kyoku radio station. An English translation of the proclamation was broadcast overseas.

39.        The historical background of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence  was to....

A.      disagree colonialism among the countries over the world

B.       end up other nation’s colonialism, and people’s suffering and poverty

D.      ally among Indonesia's peoples to attack the Dutch’s invasion

Dear Sir,

I know that Unitama Mega trading Corp. is one of the biggest retail product distributors in Indonesia, and I am sure it would be an excellent career opportunity to join in and work for this respective company.

I would like to apply for direct marketing and sales officer position in your company. I am in good health, willing to work, fast learning, and work well with others. I have my own vehicle, driving license A and C. Also, I have good communication skill and speak English fluently both oral and written.

I was graduated from Akademi Manajemen Perusahaan (AMP) YKPN Yogyakarta, majoring in Marketing Management in December 2019, and have been working for Pratama Corp Retails in sales and marketing department since January 2019. I believe my 2 years’ experience in this related field would be useful for me to contribute your company better.

I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to convince you that my services would be an asset to your company. I assure you that a high level of efficiency would be applied to any assignment given to me. I hope my qualifications and experiences merit to your consideration.

Thank you for kind attention, and I am looking forward to your reply.

Yours Faithfully,

Enrico Abednego

Easy on me

Adele

There ain't no gold in this river
That I've been washin' my hands in forever
I know there is hope in these waters
But I can't bring myself to swim
When I am drowning in this silence
Baby, let me in

Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
Didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose
What I chose to do
So go easy on me

There ain't no room for things to change
When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways
You can't deny how hard I have tried
I changed who I was to put you both first
But now I give up

Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
Didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
Had no time to choose
What I chose to do
So go easy on me

I had good intentions
And the highest hopes
But I know right now
That probably doesn't even show

Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
I didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose
What I chose to do
So go easy on me
